What is Samco & Shrim ?
Samco & Shrim Farmers Limited is a co-operative buying group owned by its member shareholders. Samco was formed in the early 1960’s by the amalgamation of a number of small buying groups from the South Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk areas. The company operates from offices in Dunmow Road, Bishop’s Stortford, which were purchased in 1982.
Samco & Shrim Farmers Ltd evolved from the merger of South Anglia Marketing Company and the Essex based Shrim Farmers in 2002. As a company with over 40 years purchasing experience, it has considerable buying power and attracts extremely keen prices on behalf of its members for a wide range of farm inputs and services. Samco & Shrim also works in collaboration with Anglia Farmers Ltd., the UK’s largest agricultural purchasing group. By combining our purchasing power with theirs for ancillary items such as telecommunications and electricity we can offer some unbeatable deals, for example members typically save 40% on their mobile phone bills.
Samco & Shrim members get the best of both worlds a local office and a personal service, acting as the central purchasing department for 175 farms and estates, as well as 25 associated businesses. With access to 200 suppliers of agricultural inputs and ancillary items such as electricity, healthcare, building products and telecommunications, we can help our farmer members save up to £70 per hectare on input costs?
Samco & Shrim Farmers vision is to exceed our members’ expectations by continually improving the quality, service and prices of purchases. Member satisfaction surveys combined with discussion groups are used to measure how we are meeting expectations and how we can continue to develop our services for the future.
